The Sarah Peltzman Educational Series consists of three educational units from 10 to 11 a.m. beginning Thursday, Oct. 15, sponsored by Congregation Beth Shalom Sisterhood through Zoom. The cost is $15 per unit or $36 for all three and is open to the entire Jewish community of Greater Kansas City. The fee for couples is $40 and includes all three units. Each unit (lasting four class sessions) will be followed by a fifth session with a “guest speaker.”
Unit One — Instructor will be Alan Edelman
Topic: “Am I My Brother’s Keeper? A Jewish Social Justice Response to Black Lives Matter.”
Dates: Oct. 15, 22, 29 and Nov. 5
Nov. 12: Guest speaker Dan Margolies
Unit Two — Instructor will be Hazzan Tahl Ben-Yehuda
Topic: “Difficult Texts in the Tanakh; How We Face and Frame the Texts that Make Us Squirm.”
Dates: Jan. 7, 14, 21, and 28
Feb. 4: Guest speaker to be announced
Unit Three — Instructor will be Rabbi David Glickman
Topic: “Great Arguments: How the Jewish Methods of Disagreement are What the World Needs Now.”
Dates: April 8, 15, 22, and 29
