Nancy and Jeff Lang of Leawood announce the engagement of their son, Adam Lang, to Carly Kopec, daughter of Jacque and Al Kopec Jr. of Irvine, Calif.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Howard Schuyler and the late Catherine Schuyler of New Jersey and Dorothy Kopec and the late Albert Kopec of Torrance, Calif. She graduated from Drake University with honors, with a degree in marketing and finance and is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She is currently employed at MetLife in Los Angeles as a consultant.

The future groom is the grandson of Herbert Gruenebaum and the late Ruth Gruenebaum of Overland Park and Florence and Gerald Lang of Rockville, Md. He graduated from Drake University with honors, with a degree in finance and accounting and is a member of Pi Alpha Kappa fraternity. He currently is employed as a financial analyst at Kilroy Realty Corporation in Santa Monica, Calif.

An Aug. 21 wedding is planned in Malibu, Calif.

Amy and Eric Schultz announce the Bar Mitzvah of their son, Jared Yan, at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at Congregation Beth Shalom.

Jared is the grandson of Nancy and Shelton Gallas of Overland Park and Drs. Bella and Joseph Schultz of Brookline, Mass. He is the great-grandson of Shirley Bernstein of Overland Park.

Ashley is the granddaughter of Janet and Lou Bordman of Prairie Village, Ann Spiegel-Yazgoor of Palm Harbor, Fla., the late Arthur Spiegel and the late Don Yazgoor. She is the great-granddaughter of Grace Davis of Dallas.

Molly Jeanne Frank and Daniel Reuven Brystowski were married June 16 at Kehilath Israel Synagogue, with Rabbi Daniel Rockoff officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Norman and Jeannie Frank of Shawnee Mission and the granddaughter of Pete and Helen Russell and Morris and Molly Frank. She plans to graduate in May with a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, Bronx, N.Y., and subsequently obtain her registered nurse license.

The groom is the son of Dr. Henry and Rose Brystowski of Oak Park, Mich., and the grandson of Rabbi Dr. Leo Yehudah and Sonya Goldman. He continues his dental school preparation studies in New York City.

The couple reside in New York City.

Reuben and Nechama Mandelbaum of Jerusalem announce the birth Jan. 13 of a son, Raphael.

Grandparents are Michael and Sarita Mandelbaum of Amsterdam (formerly of Kansas City) and Rabbi Jonathan and Bella Abraham of London. Great-grandparents are Anne Mandelbaum (Bronfman) and the late Robert Mandelbaum of Overland Park.

Cathy and Neil Newman announce the Bar Mitzvah of their son, Ethan, at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at Congregation Beth Shalom.

Ethan is the grandson of Janice and Harry Shopmaker of Prairie Village and Beverly and Peter Newman of Leawood.

Eugene and Marsha Naron of Leawood will commemorate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Feb. 9. They were married in Kansas City, Mo., in 1964 and have lived in the area for more than 50 years.

There was an early anniversary celebration in January with their children and grandchildren when their son Stephen, his wife Monica and their children Alma and Ida visited from Stockholm for the occasion and son Gregory, his wife Marilyn and their daughter Josie attended from Lawrence.

The family spent a weekend in Bentonville, Ark., enjoying a visit to Crystal Bridges.

 

Stacey and Ruben Glazer of Potomac, Md., announce the birth of a daughter, Harper Mackenzie. They are also the parents of two sons, Tye and Cooper.

On Oct. 7, Victor and Diana Hurst celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

Victor and Diana are the proud parents of daughter Hedi and her husband Anthony Heinz, and sons, Austin Hurst and Zach Hurst. They are the grandparents of Victoria Heinz.
