Isabella Zahara Stein, daughter of Adam Stein and Paula Mahayosnand of Jersey City, New Jersey, will become a bat mitzvah on Saturday, June 29, at the Nimbus Arts Center in Jersey City.

Her grandparents are Herb and Alice Stein of Overland Park, Kansas; and Inpol and the late Zita Mahayosnand of Meriden, Connecticut. She has one sibling, Kaya, age 10.

Isabella has been a dancer her entire life, having trained for two years at the School of American Ballet in New York City. For the past four years, she has danced with the Triple Threats team at Next Step Broadway in Jersey City, including performing a solo in numerous competitions this past year.

She will be fulfilling a family tradition by reading her parsha, Bechukotai — the same parsha her grandfather Herb Stein, father, uncle, aunt and first cousins read. Herb and Alice Stein are long-time members of Congregation Beth Shalom in Overland Park, Kansas; Isabella’s father, uncle and aunt all had their b’nai mitzvah there.
