Alexandra (Allie) Michelle DeBruin, daughter of Sarah and Benjamin Baellow and Steven DeBruin, will become a bat mitzvah on Saturday, Oct. 14, at Congregation Beth Shalom.
Allie’s grandparents are Monte and Sonia (z"l) Cotton; Hanna and Larry DeBruin of Omaha, Nebraska; Shari Baellow; and David Baellow. She has two siblings, Joseph and Zachary Baellow.
Allie is a camouflage belt in Taekwondo; she is a member of the Black Belt club at Elite Martial Arts. She plays trumpet in the Frontier Trail Band and loves to play music, attend plays, cook, read, and spend time with her friends. Over the summer, Allie was a cast member in her first shows at StageworX Theater Camp. This Yom Kippur, she participated in the Kol Nidre choir for the second year in a row.
For her mitzvah project, Allie assembled 150 snack bags for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House locations in Kansas City. Allie will continue to read Torah and help lead services after her bat mitzvah.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Kiddush lunch following the service.
