Eitan Jacob Gerson, son of Karen and Jeffry Gerson, will become a bar mitzvah on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, in the Jewish Community Campus social hall.
The family are members of Congregation Beth Shalom, and Eitan attends Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy (HBHA).
Eitan is the grandson of Francie and Jay Gerson, and Al and Barbara Herstig. He has an older brother, Gilli Micah Gerson (19).
Some of Eitan’s hobbies include playing competitive soccer for Puma Futbol, playing on HBHA’s middle school basketball team, being with his HBHA friends, attending Camp Ramah in the summer, and playing with his dog, Skeye, and his bunny, Stuart.
For his mitzvah project, Eitan is collecting blankets for attendees of a summer camp for Ukrainian youth sponsored by Midreshet Schecter. He has been involved with the organization since the camp relocated from Ukraine to Romania last summer. He also sends the message that there are people in Kansas City that care about them.
Eitan's bar mitzvah will take place in Campus’ social hall at 7:55 a.m. Family and friends are invited to join the Gerson family for a breakfast immediately following the ceremony.
