Myron Donald "Donnie" Samuels passed away in Rockville, Maryland, from a heart attack on Dec. 24, 2022 at the age of 88.
He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on May 3, 1934, to Nathan and Sophie Samuels. He attended Southwest High School and then the University of Missouri. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, he went to Purdue University and received a master’s degree in engineering. In college, he was a master of the AEPi fraternity.
A dashing and charming gentleman, he lived and worked in Washington, D.C. as an engineering consultant for decades.
His partner and best friend, Barbara, said, “He was an incredible human being with a big heart.” He took a personal interest in everyone he met. He revered his friendships and lived his value that “the sweetest sound to anyone's ears is the sound of his own name.” He appreciated people, and he was always kind to those who took care of him. His capacity to care about others and to help them enrich their lives gave him a great sense of accomplishment. He was cheerful and positive and loved to follow the stock market and global news. His family loved his dry sense of humor.
Barbara said, “The true measure of a man is to earn the respect of others, and Donald was that kind of man.”
He will be remembered by many friends and caregivers at The Village at Rockville. Survivors are: his brother, Arnold; his partner, Barbara; and their respective families and friends.
