Navigating Medicare and more on tap for Learn Laugh and Love program Kelly Loeb Aging is part of life’s journey, but it doesn’t come without questions on how best to traverse the process. At 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, the Learn, Laugh and Love series returns with, “Medicare and More,” a virtual and interactive Zoom program led by Kelly Loeb, Jewish Family Services Older Adult Care manager, and Denise G. Dias, extension agent for Johnson County K-State Research and Extension. This program is part of the monthly Learn, Laugh and Love series presented by Jewish Family Services and The Heritage Center of the Jewish Community Center (The J). It will feature information on the basics of Medicare and JFS resources that will help you to begin the process of working through the Medicare maze. Dias will discuss the four basic parts of Medicare, including Medigap, Prescription Drugs and Advantage Plans. Loeb will provide further details on Medicare LIS/Extra Help and the Medicare Savings Programs. She will also share the programs and services JFS provides in helping older adults in this area. “Medicare and More” is a Zoom program, so no advance reservations are necessary. Loeb holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Kansas and a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Missouri. Prior to joining JFS, Loeb traveled the 105 counties of Kansas as an educator for the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services, helping Medicare beneficiaries understand and use their benefits. Loeb has been trained through SHICK (Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas) as a Medicare counselor and has served as a SHICK trainer. Dias earned her Bachelor of Science degree in home economics from the University of Nebraska, a Master of Science degree in apparel marketing from Kansas State University and a master’s degree in global business and leadership from Friends University. Dias has been a SHICK counselor since 2011 and is passionate about helping seniors gain Medicare information to make knowledgeable choices regarding their healthcare needs.
