A KC Jewish community favorite adapts to pandemic life First-ever virtual Kansas City Jewish Film Festival began this week (KCJC) For the first time ever, the White Theatre at The Jewish Community Center (The J) is presenting the Kansas City Jewish Film Festival virtually. You can enjoy the three-week festival from the comfort of your own couch, porch, kitchen table or bathtub – be careful with that last one though! The festival began on Sunday and will end on August 19th. The festival will present 12 award-winning films. Each film is slotted for a 48-hour window. This gives you more flexibility than ever before to enjoy the films. The stories highlighted come to your screen from all over the world – including Jewish stories and featuring the work of Jewish filmmakers, director and actors. This year’s lineup begins Aug. 2 with “Miracle of Miracles,” the story of the making of the Broadway musical “Fiddler on the Roof,” a classic and an audience favorite at The White Theatre at The J. The lineup continues with “On The Map” – Aug. 3; “Crescendo” – Aug. 4; “After Munich” – Aug. 5; “Ahead of Time” – Aug. 9; “Extra Innings” – Aug. 10; “Picture of His Life” – Aug. 11; “Leona” – Aug. 12; “The Samuel Project” – Aug. 16; “Standing Up Falling Down” – Aug. 17; “My Polish Honeymoon” – Aug. 18; and finishes with “The Keeper” – Aug. 19. This year’s films boast 36 awards from across the world. Covering comedy, drama, love and history, the films push viewers to confront fears, bigotry, addiction and violence. You can purchase a pass for the entire festival, as well as tickets for individual films. For more information, visit www.KCJFF.org.
