My collection of The Chronicle clippings has survived six moves. It records some of my proudest moments as a Jew, from my Bat Mitzvah announcement to my first Chronicle byline. Every paper I work on is already being added to my stack of priceless memories.
I am thankful for the honor and opportunity to share our community’s news. I am eager to learn more about the Kansas City Jewish community and continue the long-standing tradition of excellence The Chronicle has been known for.
I look forward to connecting with more readers, learning about your lives and sharing your stories. Don’t hesitate to shoot me an email, call or send a carrier pigeon. I want to hear from you. I look forward to bringing new ideas to The Chronicle.
I was born-and-raised in Overland Park, Kansas. I grew up attending Congregation Beth Torah, where I found my life’s motto, “You’re not commanded to save the world, but you’re commanded to try.” I hope that I’m making the world a better place one story at a time.
Words will fail to express how much I appreciate Barbara Bayer’s mentorship, kindness and unending support. She has made sure not only that I can fly on my own, but that the sky is clear. Barbara is an exceptional journalist and neshama, soul. I will forever be indebted to her for the time and energy she put into building The Chronicle and preparing me to take over as editor.
Kansas City, thank you for the outpouring of support, encouragement and Mazel Tov messages that I have received over the past month.
I love journalism: The duty to protect and share the truth. The honor of giving a voice to the voiceless. Sharing stories that warm the heart.
I studied print and multimedia journalism at the University of Arizona’s School of Journalism and Honors College. I spent a year in Seminary studying Judaism at Midreshet Rachel v’Chaya’s College for Jewish Women in Jerusalem. I have worked as a production coordinator for Dateline NBC, produced and reported for local television news, written for various digital and print publications and edited an online magazine.
I look forward to working with you and sharing your stories.
A Freilichin Purim to you and yours!
