SHE KNOWS HER AMERICAN HISTORY — Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy junior Leah Sosland is the Kansas state winner of the Sons of the American Revolution Knight Essay Contest.
The contest is designed to give high school students an opportunity to explore events that shaped American history. Students must submit an original essay with topics based on original research and deal with an event, person, philosophy or ideal associated with the American Revolution, Declaration of Independence or the framing of the U.S. Constitution. Leah’s essay is now being entered, along with other state winners across the U.S., for the Knight Essay national competition. HBHA junior Alexis Davis and seniors Gabi Cabell and Lindsey Paul were also recognized for participating in the contest.
HATS OFF TO JFS — For the third consecutive year, JFS has earned a Four (out of four) Star Rating from Charity Navigator. Only 14 percent of Charity Navigator-rated agencies have sustained the four-star rating for three or more years, placing the social service agency in a small category of organizations consistently performing to exceptional standards. Charity Navigator is America’s largest and most-utilized charity evaluator and rates the financial health and accountability and transparency of more than 8,000 charities.
