Community leader Mark R. Jorgenson will receive the prestigious Henry W. Bloch Human Relations Award at the Jewish Community Relations Bureau|American Jewish Committee 2015 Human Relations Dinner. The gala dinner will be held on Sunday evening, Dec. 13, at the Westin Kansas City at Crown Center.
The award will be presented by Henry W. Bloch, for whom it is named. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}Bloch is recognized as having set the standard for community activism and community involvement. His quiet and humble generosities of spirit and concern have touched almost every aspect of our civic life. He remains a role model in the pursuit of justice and an inspiration to the citizens of our metropolitan area.
Jorgenson is being honored for his dedication to community service, his civic leadership and his commitment to make our community a better place in which to live. He has been and continues to be a strong advocate for that goal.
Reaching out into the heart of our community, Jorgenson has led the Urban Neighborhood Initiative, Heart of America Council Boy Scouts, KS/MO Chapter March of Dimes, University of Missouri-Kansas City, National World War I Museum and the KU Hospital Authority.
Numerous organizations in our area have been the recipients of Jorgenson’s time, leadership and dedication. Among the many groups he has served as president or chairman are The Civic Council of Greater Kansas City and the Kansas City Area Development Council. He also served on the boards of The Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City and United Way of Greater Kansas City.
Jorgenson and his wife Mary live in Kansas City, Missouri, and they have four grown children. He is the regional president for U.S. Bank, and has been in the community since June 1981.
