Edward Stuart Kanter passed away on December 12, 2021, in his home surrounded by his family. He was the son of Joseph and Esther Kanter and son-in-law of Allen and Donna Levine.

Ed was the proud owner of Comfort Felt and Foam Company and worked very hard to be a respectable, successful businessman. Ultimately, the Foam King of the Midwest’s greatest joy was his family: his wife of 38 years, Rochelle; daughters Jessica (Adam) and Jennifer (Lowell); and son Shane (Julia).

He was blessed with eight grandchildren who lovingly called him “PawPaw”: Yonatan, Eliezer, Shua, Devora, Dov, Elon, Mayer, and Irving. Together they spent many hours at the “Pink House” building things, playing games, snacking on sweets, and sharing life together. Ed’s dog, Rylie, was his companion throughout his illness.

Ed enjoyed skiing the slopes, boating, playing piano when no one was listening, dancing with Rochelle, Shabbat dinners, the taste of a good steak, and watching TV. Whatever needed to be fixed, PawPaw was your MacGyver.

Ed was a gentle soul who was easy to love. He lent a hand to many and asked for nothing in return. He had a solid one-liner to add to any story being told around the dinner table. Many friends and family will miss the smile behind his white beard and his warm hands.
