Since its formation seven years ago, Future Votes KC has proved that the differing student bodies from Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy and University Academy in Kansas City, Missouri, can partner to make an impact on social justice issues in the metropolitan area.
MeltonKC, powered by HBHA, continues to offer a varied selection of 2020-21 courses to engage, connect and offer thought-provoking discussion among students of all ages and stages of Jewish learning. Currently, all classes are virtual, though some classes plan to meet outside (when possible) or reconvene when it is safe to return in person.

The struggles of the newly poor come in all shapes and sizes: Jewish families turning to Jewish social service agencies for help paying electricity and mortgage bills. Isolated Jewish seniors on fixed incomes who, for the first time in their lives, are facing food insecurity and mental health issues exacerbated by social isolation.
As Helene Lotman was settling into her role as head of the Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City, he was the one who came to her office on Day One with an orchid and who showed up on her first shabbat in town with housewarming gifts of challah, kosher salt and candles.
