Theme of this year’s Jewish Federation annual gathering is gratitude

Jewish Federation president and CEO Dr. Helene Lotman will speak at annual gathering on Sept. 8.

There couldn’t be a more appropriate theme to the Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City’s annual gathering than “gratitude.” As Jewish Federation moves through a transition in leadership, welcoming new President & CEO Dr. Helene Lotman and saying goodbye to longtime Jewish Federation President & CEO Todd Stettner, it is an appropriate time to thank all those who have made Jewish Federation into a strong community organization, while also looking into the future at what can be.

Journalist Eli Rosenberg may have left the Midwest for now, but he’s still getting a taste of some Midwestern weather! Here he is last week reporting about a tornado that hit a Boston suburb.

UPDATE — Last year Jewish Life magazine featured Eli Rosenberg, a reporter on KMBC-TV 9. In mid-July he left his hometown television station and moved to Boston, where he’s reporting for New England Cable News, an NBC-owned regional cable network based there. Starting Jan. 1st, he’ll be joining the new NBC Boston as a reporter.

Brittany Blair Silberman and Matthew David Rissien were married Sunday, July 17, at the Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, California.

85th Birthday

Bob Horwitz, born in 1931, will turn 85 on Monday, Aug. 29. A day of celebratory events with his family is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 28.

Congregation Ohev Sholom’s renovations near completion

New carpeting will be installed soon in Congregation Ohev Sholom’s sanctuary, where Rabbi Scott White sits. Rennovations to the sanctuary and the chapel are expected to be completed in early September. Photo by Scott Fishman

It started on Aug. 8, and it’s on track for completion at the end of the second week of September.

Jewish Federation announces three major award recipients to be honored at 2016 Annual Gathering

Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City has announced three award recipients for this year’s annual gathering scheduled to take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, in the Galleria and White Theatre at the Jewish Community Campus.
