MAZEL TOV SOLLIE — In case you missed it, Sollie Flora was elected to the City of Mission City Council on Tuesday, Nov. 7. Flora, who is Jewish, defeated incumbent Suzanne Gibbs and Bill Nichols. She is a civil litigation attorney at Berkowitz Oliver LLP in Kansas City, Missouri. Flora, 31, will be sworn in on Jan. 8.

Hanukkiot exhibit curated by The J to feature ‘stunning’ pieces of art

Hanukkah Lamp Menorahmorph is from the collection of Dr. Jonathan and Ellen Children. Designed by Karim Rashid, this Hanukkah lamp was commissioned by the Jewish Museum in New York and is produced in a variety of colors. It is part of the Hanukkiot exhibit that opens at The J on Nov. 28.

Author and Pulitzer Prize nominee to speak at B’nai Jehudah

Rabbi James Rudin, who was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in 2016 and once served as an assistant rabbi at The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah, will speak at the Reform congregation Friday, Dec. 1.
