Jewish Federation assumes Chronicle ownership

Steve Rose, owner of Rose Publications, is donating The Kansas City Jewish Chronicle to the Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City. The ownership change becomes effective Friday, Sept. 11. Now in its 100th year, The Chronicle has provided its readers with Jewish news and opinion from a variety of perspectives — local, regional, national and international — since January 1920. The paper is mailed to subscribers each week; current subscriptions will be honored.

“You don’t demand that people call you ‘Rabbi,’ you earn it every day,” Rabbi Doug Alpert, pulpit rabbi at Congregation Kol Ami told The Chronicle.
The Jewish community will join together for a combined virtual Havdalah and Selichot service at 8:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12. This service, which traditionally takes place on the Saturday evening before Rosh Hashanah, marks the official beginning of the Season of Awe and helps individuals spiritually prepare for the High Holy Days. The contemplative service will be led by area clergy and musicians and consists of introspective and inspiring readings, prayers and music.
Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City is proud to introduce the new members of its Young Adults Division (YAD) committee.
JFS and The Giving Brick will be among the activities at CARnival for CASA — a fun, safe, socially distanced event in which families load the kids in the car and drive through stations with lots of great activities, giveaways, a raffle, and sweet treats and lunch for everyone in the car.
