The Midwest Center for Holocaust Education (MCHE) will host a International Holocaust Remembrance Day commemoration focusing this year on the topic “‘Never Again’ post 10/07.”

The commemoration, which will take place on Jan. 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the social hall of The J (5801 W 115th St. Overland Park, KS 66211), will feature Dr. Maria Zalewska, the executive director of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial Foundation.

In the wake of the Oct. 7 attacks by Hamas against Israel, the rise in antisemitism and online rhetoric regarding the Holocaust “suggests that the memory of the Holocaust and Holocaust education are facing an altogether new challenge,” according to the MCHE. The commemoration will include discussion on the future of Holocaust education.

Information and registrations for the commemoration can be made at mchekc.org/international-holocaust-remembrance-day-registration.
