KU Hillel is offering a variety of internships this fall semester that cater to a diverse range of student interests.

More than 20 students are participating in the 10 different internships offered. Students receive a stipend upon completion of their internship.

Several categories of internships are offered, including engagement, programming and communication. The different internships align to the different skills and interests of students and are aimed to help them grow in areas they are passionate about.

“I’ve held a multitude of internships with KU Hillel since my freshman year,” junior Hannah Smuckler said. “I’m currently a marketing intern, and I love it. I love how Hillel offers internships that go along with what I’m studying, so I can get a glimpse of what real-world experience might look like. Since my freshman year, I’ve tried three different internships, and they’ve helped me figure out what I might want to do post-grad.”

Students work together with the KU Hillel staff to fulfill the organization’s mission to connect, engage and inspire Jewish students and the KU Jewish community.

“KU Hillel is a staff-student partnership, and our student intern program is a key part of our mission,” said Ben Davis, assistant director at KU Hillel. “Incorporating students into the planning and execution of everything we do not only helps students develop skills that they can take into their adult life, but [it] also gives students a sense of ownership in their own experience and the experiences of their peers.”

Working with KU Hillel staff helps each student learn by example through professional mentorship and gives students the opportunity to build skills outside of the classroom.

“Being an intern at Hillel has given me the opportunity to get more involved with my Jewish peers and connect with countless Jewish students across campus,” said Alexa Schwartz, a sophomore and KU Hillel engagement intern.
