A virtual community-wide Purim day celebration will take place Thursday, March 17, from 11 a.m. to noon.

Jewish community members of all ages are invited to join Rabbis David Glickman, Larry Karol, Beryl Padorr, Jonathan Rudnick and Linda Steigman for the reading of the Megillah, along with music and discussion. Participants are welcome to wear a costume.

The story of Purim is told in the Book of Esther and is traditionally read twice on Purim – once on the eve of Purim and once on the day of Purim. Traditionally, a Purim Seudah (a festive meal) is served on the day of Purim. Purim is a joyous holiday filled with fun and joyous festivities, and it includes opportunities to fulfill a number of mitzvot including giving gifts to others.

There is no charge to attend the community program, but attendees are asked to register online by Thursday, March 10, at forms.gle/XfKMLedzdijqb6au8.

Those who register to attend the program will receive a complimentary Shalach Manot gift bag which can be picked up curbside at Village Shalom on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 16, or can be requested for delivery on the registration form. A limited number of bags are available.

A Zoom link will be sent to all registered participants a few days prior to the March 17 program.

The Purim program is sponsored by the Rabbinical Association in partnership with Village Shalom and the Heritage Center at The J, and generously supported by the Flo Harris Foundation of the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Kansas City.
