Members of the SevenDays® 2020 Planning committee gather with several button winners to show off their great designs.

WANTED — Great designs by metro area high school artists (grades nine-12) to capture the themes of SevenDays® Make a Ripple, Change the World!

SevenDays® is the annual experience featuring daily themes with programs and activities promoting kindness and interfaith understanding in the Greater Kansas City area and beyond. This coming year, SevenDays® 2021 will take place over seven days in mid-April.

A signature of SevenDays® is providing colorful buttons (and stickers) with designs reflecting each day’s theme. Buttons and stickers are distributed to area schools, businesses, organizations, faith groups and the general public spreading the message of kindness. High school students are encouraged to enter the Button Art Competition, now under way. The eight students, whose artwork is selected to be featured on this year’s themed buttons, will each receive $500.

The Button Art Competition is sponsored by the Faith Always Wins Foundation through SevenDays®.

Interested students must submit eight original artistic designs, representing each of the SevenDays® daily themes — LOVE, DISCOVER, OTHERS, CONNECT, YOU, GO, ONWARD — and a general SevenDays®-themed button. The deadline for entering the competition is Tuesday, Dec. 1. All applications must be submitted online at www.GiveSevenDays.org/get-involved/for-students.

Winning button designs will be chosen by a panel of local art professionals and representatives of the Faith Always Wins Foundation, which produces SevenDays®. Students’ artwork may win in only one category. Winners will be notified via email in December.

“We are giving voice to the high school age students; asking their opinion on what kindness means to them, inviting them to depict kindness through our selected themes and in the genre of wearable art,” said Mindy Corporon, founder and president of the Faith Always Wins Foundation. “These students will make our world more kind and we are providing them the platform from which to do so.”

Questions regarding the Button Art Competition applications should be emailed directly to   with “SevenDays Button Art Competition Submission” in the subject line.

Designs will appear on more than 100,000 buttons and stickers that are distributed annually and on marketing materials promoting SevenDays®. Students’ artwork will also be displayed at the third Annual SevenDays® Kindness Art Show at the Plaza Library in February 2021 as well displays in the various SevenDays® Cities city halls.
