Anyone interested in learning more about the Cairo Genizah can take the MeltonKC class “Exploring a Forgotten World: A Social History of Medieval Jewry as Revealed in the Cairo Genizah.” It will be taught by Rabbi Javier Cattapan of Congregation Beth Torah on Zoom from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for 10 weeks beginning Nov. 5.

This course brings to life an exotic era in Jewish history, revealing the inner thoughts of real-life characters and exploring the daily interactions and behaviors of Jewish men, women and families living along the Mediterranean more than 1,000 years ago.

You’ll have a front-row seat to the drama, gossip, legal transactions and other daily intrigues — straight from the Middle Ages.

This course is $250 per student, which includes learning materials. Melton provides subsidies as needed. Go to www.hbha.wufoo.com/forms/z1rk21ez15qizhz/  to register, or contact Megan Pener, MeltonKC director, at 913-327-8161.
