Jewish Unforgettable Ladies Interested in Eating Together (JULIETs) will host two programs in March – a discussion about Kansas Interfaith Action (KIFA) (rescheduled from February due to inclement weather) and modern antisemitic language online.

Both events will be held at Congregation Beth Torah (6100 W. 127th St., Overland Park, KS 66209).

On March 8 at 12:30 p.m., JULIETs will host Rabbi Moti Rieber and Sagi Rudnick for a discussion about KIFA, a statewide advocacy organization. Attendees should arrive by 12:15 p.m. to check in so the event can begin promptly.

KIFA is an organization that works to educate, engage and advocate on behalf of people of faith regarding social, economic and climate justice issues. Members lobby at the state legislature regarding priorities such as immigrant and LGBTQ+ rights and fully-funded public education. Rabbi Rieber is its executive director, and Rudnick is its program and administrative associate.

On March 29 at 1 p.m., JULIETs will host Julie Cortés for a discussion about modern antisemitic language that shape online hostility towards Jews. Attendees will examine how anti-Judaism, antisemitism and anti-Zionism all often lead to harassment, vandalism, social exclusion, and violence against Jews, and how they can respond, report and take action.

Cortés is an award-winning advertising copywriter, founder of The Freelance Exchange, business coach and creator of Freelancing 101, which she taught as an adjunct professor at the Kansas City Art Institute. The daughter of Susie Klinock, over the past two years, she’s immersed herself in researching and documenting modern antisemitism. She later co-chaired an industry-wide program supporting the national #StandUpToJewishHate advertising campaign. As a humanist Jew who never expected to step into this role, Cortés now speaks and writes to help others recognize, name and respond to antisemitism with clarity and courage.

Reservation deadlines are Thursday, March 5, for the KIFA program and Thursday, March 26, for the antisemitism event. Attendees must RSVP by emailing and indicating which program they are interested in. Attendees should arrive at least 15 minutes early to check in.

All Jewish women (and women of other faiths who have a Jewish spouse) are invited to this free event. No synagogue affiliation is required to attend, and attendees should bring their own lunch or snack. Beverages and paper goods will be provided.
