Spector, Fannie

Fannie Spector, 91, of Shawnee, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 1, at Shawnee Gardens.

Graveside services were held Friday, Dec. 3, at Sheffield Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Kansas Association for the Blind or Grace Hospice.

Mrs. Spector was born in Kiev, Russia, the daughter of Sam and Rebecca Winer. She came to the United States as a young child with her mother and infant sister and learned English on the ship coming over from Europe. Her brother was born in the United States.

She was an accomplished artist in ceramics and needlepoint. She was very talented with her hands.

Mrs. Spector was a loving mother who expected the most of her children.

She was a former member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue and was past president of the Marcella Roden Auxiliary.

Mrs. Spector was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 35 years, Gabriel Spector, in 1976; her brother, Harry Winer; and her sister, Minnie Friedman.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Arnold and Trudy Spector, Overland Park, Marshall Spector, Shawnee, and Neil and Sandra Spector, Louisburg, Kan.; daughter, Karla Jones, Shawnee; grandchildren, Randy and Marie Spector, Mindy and Paul Hamann, Gail and Daniel Reif and Ronda and Marvin Fletcher; great-grandchildren, Lauren Spector, Griffin Hamann, Elliott Hamann and Evan Reif.
