Gasser, Marlene

Marlene Gasser, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away on Sunday, Nov. 21, with her loved ones by her side. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 23, at the Louis Memorial Chapel, with burial following at Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Marlene was born April 28, 1936, in Kansas City, Mo., to Joseph and Elizabeth Rubin where she lived most of her life. She attended Paseo High School and went to Oklahoma University where she was a member of Sigma Delta Tau Sorority. She began working at a law firm as a secretary and received her paralegal certificate while doing so. While working as a paralegal, Marlene earned her master’s degree in social work. Subsequently, she counseled many families in crisis over the next several years and recently retired from Comprehensive Mental Health Center.

Marlene was an avid reader and belonged to a book club for many years. She loved to play Mah Jongg and spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Marlene is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Max Gasser; her children, Kevin and Lisa Gasser, Jonathan and Idala Gasser; and grandchildren, William, Riley, Austen and Heath.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth; brothers, Bernard and Charles Rubin; son, James Gasser; and grandson, Dakota.
