Anna Isaakovna Bashmakov passed away May 21, 2017, at Good Samaritan Center of Olathe, Kansas. Graveside services were held Tuesday, May 23, at K.I. Blue Ridge Cemetery in Independence, Missouri. Contributions may be sent to Jewish Family Services of Kansas City or Kehilath Israel Synagogue.

Anna was born Dec. 27, 1927, in Bershad, Ukraine, to Golda and Isaak Binder. As a young Jewish girl during World War II, she fled the country from Nazi occupation with her parents. Anna suffered through cold, famine and many hardships including the loss of her father. But she persevered and survived the war with her mother and siblings. After the war, she returned to Bershad where she married her longtime neighbor, Leonid, in September of 1946. Anna and Leonid immigrated to Overland Park, Kansas, in 1989 with the rest of the family. She was the best cook in the family, had a great sense of humor, and was always in good spirits. Anna dedicated her life to raising her children and grandchildren and making the best life for her family that she could.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Senya and Yasha; and husband, Leonid.

She was survived by her three children; Ilya Bashmakov, Mikhail Bashmakov and Maryana Noykhovich; four grandchildren; Alex Bashmakov, Katya Noykhovich, Milana Noykhovich, and Michelle Noykhovich; and three great-grandchildren; Eli and Jake Bruce, and Alice Bash.
