Almaleh, Isaac

Isaac Almaleh, 89, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, at Village Shalom. Funeral services were held Oct. 2 at The Louis Memorial Chapel; burial followed at Mount Moriah Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy and Village Shalom.

Isaac was born Nov. 25, 1926, in New York, New York, the son of Albert and Bella. He lived most of his life in New York prior to moving to the Kansas City area in November 2010 to be with family.

He was a self-made businessman, owner of a stock market reporting company and later in insurance sales.

Isaac was married to Doris for 63 years, traveling the world, taking classes together and enjoying the theatre after their retirement, until his wife’s passing in 2013.

He entered the U.S. Army in 1943, ending his military career as sergeant in 1946. During World War II, he landed on Guam and Okinawa and vowed never to touch a gun after his war experience.

Isaac is survived by brother: David Almaleh of Delray Beach, Florida; sister: Delicia Mevorah of New York, New York; his son and daughter-in-law: Larry and Harriet of Overland Park, Kansas; daughter Robin of India and grandchildren Ryan Almaleh and Kathleen Almaleh.

The family would also like to express their thanks to all of Isaac’s caregivers and a truly heartfelt gratitude to Christine Lawson, RN, of Village Shalom for her sincere love and extraordinary care over many years and Erin King and her team of Evergreen Hospice for their kindness and support.
