Years later when Uncle Mel returned home from the Coast Guard, he suffered what perhaps now would be called PTSD and was sent to be treated at the Veterans Hospital in Topeka, Ks. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to respond and took his own life. Upon his death these fine men came together and provided a headstone to be placed upon his grave.
Our Planzer family has always been grateful for the love and friendship these wonderful men gave to Uncle Mel, and to our family.
