Sylvia Shoffman Oreskes, 99, passed away on May 17, 2012.
Funeral services were held in Chicago. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice or a charity of one’s choice.
Mrs. Oreskes was very active in her Jewish communities when she lived in Chicago and later when she moved to Santa Barbara, Calif. She was a professional singer with a lyric soprano voice who had a very successful career, including singing with the Chicago Opera in the 1930s prior to her marriage.
Mrs. Oreskes was a mother of three, Linda Tabolsky (Bill) of Kansas City, Nancy Gang (David) of New Jersey, and the late Judi Ginsberg (Bob) of Nevada. In addition to her daughters and sons-in-law, she leaves six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Her passing was peaceful with her daughter, Nancy, and a Hospice nurse by her side.
