The Jewish Community Foundation-Friends of Sheffield are most appreciative of the article in the April 21st edition of the Chronicle on the completion of our “Restoring Honor Campaign” for Sheffield Cemetery.
The “Restoring Honor Campaign” was in keeping with one of the highest values in the Jewish tradition, Kavod Ha’ Met, honoring the deceased. Burial sites are representative of not one but all congregations.
Solicitation began in 2006. Rick Hellman, editor at that time, gave us front page publicity to commence our efforts. Barb Bayer, current editor, and her efficient staff have been extremely helpful in keeping the community abreast of our accomplishments. The community has been responsive to the articles with generous monetary contributions. We hope more funding will ensue for the endowment maintenance of our projects.
We are fortunate to have a Jewish publication like the Jewish Chronicle in Kansas City, to keep us current on important news worthy issues.
