The Greater Kansas City Interfaith Council (GKCIC) has viewed with dismay the violent events which have marred this fresh new year of 2015. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}GKCIC notes also that, even while violence is still among us, there are many people throughout the world who are working actively for peace and unity among peoples of different faiths.

The United Nations has declared the first full week of February of each year to be World Interfaith Harmony Week. This year, that week is Sunday, Feb. 1, through Saturday, Feb. 7. It is our hope that observances such as World Interfaith Harmony Week can be a catalyst for bringing together all peoples.

The Greater Kansas City Interfaith Council suggests that the community join together in a common prayer on Sunday, Feb. 1, for interfaith harmony and peace:

We stand together in Peace within our family,

We stand together in Peace within our congregation,

We stand together in Peace within our community,

We stand together in Peace with the world.

We look upon all others in our world as our brothers and sisters

And we ask for the peace that will come when all humanity uses the

Eyes of Peace.

This prayer is offered for the use of all; GKCIC invites all people to join in all or part of this prayer (individually, in houses of worship or as part of our virtual event at www.facebook.com/gkcicpage), which we offer in the spirit of peace and community.{/mprestriction}
