Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy’s 2016 Civic Service Award gala will be held in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the school and the extraordinary support the school has enjoyed from two of its founders — Blanche and Neil Sosland.

Taking place Monday, April 11, at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, the 2016 gala will feature a special performance by the Kansas City Symphony and music director Michael Stern.

“We couldn’t be more proud of the school’s accomplishments over the last 50 years or excited about the next 50. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}Thanks to continued support from the Soslands and the entire HBHA network, the future of our school — and our students — looks very bright,” said Howard M. Haas, HBHA’s head of school.

The symphony performance will be preceded by a cocktail and light dinner reception, and followed by a dessert buffet. Event chairs Pella Fingersh and Marcia Karbank — both former HBHA parents and current grandparents of HBHA students — anticipate great things for HBHA’s 50th anniversary tribute.

“We look forward to celebrating the golden anniversary of HBHA, and to honoring Blanche and Neil Sosland for their remarkable vision and unwavering commitment to our extraordinary school. This promises to be an evening of perfect harmony!” said Karbank.

Fingersh agreed, and encourages every member of Jewish Kansas City to join the celebration and take pride in the community day school.

“Nationally, very few K-12 community Jewish day schools have celebrated their 50th anniversary, and here we are, a small Jewish day school in Kansas, reaching this incredible milestone …a milestone we would not have reached without Blanche and Neil’s leadership, perseverance and generosity,” said Fingersh.

“The CSA Steering Committee is very excited to envision a completely new take on the gala. It’s a new night, a new location, and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our past and future success,” said Kerry Cosner, director of development at HBHA.

The evening will be catered by award-winning Lon Lane’s Inspired Occasions. All food will be under Vaad supervision.

Tickets will be available soon. For more information about the event, including sponsorship and advertising opportunities, contact Kerry Cosner at 913-327-8156 or .{/mprestriction}
