Devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, Irwin Jack Kotelov, 77, of Prairie Village, Kan., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010. Funeral Services were held on Monday, Nov. 22, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, with burial at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery.

Irwin was born on Nov. 22, 1932, in Kansas City, Mo. He graduated from Southeast High School and attended the University of Missouri, Columbia. After a brief stint in the U.S. Army, Irwin began a lifelong career in sales. The definitive "people person," he was an insurance agent for more than 45 years with Guardian Life Insurance. He received his Chartered Life Underwriter designation through the Society of Financial Services Professionals.

He was a member of Pi Alpha Lambda and Phi Sigma Delta fraternities, Native Sons of Kansas City, Boy Scouts of America, Tribe of Mic-O-Say, Friends of Don Roth, ROMEOs and the Society of Financial Services Professionals. He was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom in Kansas City.

Irwin is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sylvia H. Kotelov, Prairie Village; children, Nancy and Larry Carl, Pam and Ted Glickman, Overland Park, and Paul and Stacy Kotelov, Highland Park, Ill.; grandchildren, Steven, Anna and Sara Carl, Ari, Eli and Noah Kotelov and Sydney Glickman; sisters-in-law, Helen Brooks and Shirlee Horowitz; brothers-in-law, Herbert Brooks and Nathan Horowitz; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Sylvia Kotelov of Kansas City, Mo.
