Shirley Rosen Lucas, 84, passed away on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014.

Graveside services were held Monday, Feb. 10, at Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery in University City, Mo. Contributions in her memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

She was the beloved wife of Jules Lucas for 63 years; dear mother of Mark Lucas, Bruce (Geralyn) Lucas and Debbi (Howard) Cohen; loving grandmother of Jacob Lucas, Carly Lucas, Alexa Lucas, Elizabeth (Steven) Levy and David (Carolyn) Cohen; dear sister of Flora (Stanley) Schwartz and Harry (Debbie) Rosen; beloved former mother-in-law of Rebecca Levy; and dear aunt, cousin and friend.

Mrs. Lucas was a professional violinist having performed with the Memphis Symphony, and also at the Muny and Six Flags. She was the music teacher at United Hebrew congregation and taught private lessons for 55 years to more than 300 violinists, violists, cellists, pianists and guitarists.

Shirley was a past president of the St. Louis Chapter of B’nai B’rith Women.
