Robert G. Lazere, 89, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at his home.

Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 7, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Jimmy Lazere Memorial Fund at Children’s Mercy Hospital or Temple Israel of Greater Kansas City.

Robert was born in Omaha, Neb., and lived most of his childhood in Sioux City, Iowa. He served stateside in the U.S. Army during World War II as a radio and radar repairman.

After the war, Robert met his wife of 59 years, Lois Lefkowitz, while living in Los Angeles.

They returned to her hometown of Kansas City to join the family business. Robert established Earl-Lite Corporation in the mid-1950s, retiring in 1989.

Robert was a member of the North Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and Optimist Club. He was a past president and member of several computer clubs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Bess (Monsky) Lazere; his loving wife, Lois, in 2011; son, Jimmy Lazere; brother, Haskell Lazere; nephews, Richard Stern and Tom Lefkovitz.

He is survived by daughters, Elizabeth Lazere and Linda Lazere Levin (Eliot); granddaughters, Kira and Raina Levin; brothers, Alan Lazere (Toni) and Joel Lazere (Elaine); sister-in-law, Bernice Lazere; and nieces, Nancy Stern, Susan Steege (Billy), Lisa Lefkovitz, Kimberly Stern and Leora Azoulay (Asher).
