Barbara Pape, 69, passed away Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at her home.

Funeral services were to have been held Wednesday, Jan, 22, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, with burial in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Barbara was a lifelong Kansas City area resident. She attended Shawnee Mission schools graduating from Shawnee Mission East. She continued her education at UMKC where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in education. She taught elementary school for more than 20 years, primarily at Brookridge Elementary in Overland Park.

Barbara was an avid runner, walker, animal rights activist and vegetarian who lived by the Golden Rule. She was devoted to her entire family and especially loved her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, George Solomon; her mother, Dorothy Cohen Solomon Levitta; first husband, Laurence Clootz; and stepfather, William Levitta.

Barbara is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Greg Clootz and Sandi Corder-Clootz, Kansas City, Mo.; daughter, Tricia Hammer, Mission; brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Celia Solomon, Overland Park; grandchildren, Amanda Dyhouse, Clayton Dyhouse, Kristine Hammer and Kailyn Hammer; and close cousin, Marilyn Cohen.

Barbara will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
