Joe Rosen, 94, of Overland Park, passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at Village Shalom.

Graveside services and burial were held Sunday, Jan. 19, at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Village Shalom or Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.

Joe was born in Oklahoma City to David and Eva (Pack) Rosen on April 21, 1919, one of four children. He attended George Washington University, where he received a degree in accounting. Joe joined the Navy during World War II, arriving in France three days after the invasion of Normandy. He was serving as the attaché to the American Embassy when he met his future wife, Marion. They married two years later on Dec. 29, 1946, after returning to Kansas City. Joe joined his cousin in an auto parts business and the couple raised two sons.

Joe was a longtime member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue and the Shriners. He was an uncomplicated man whose family was his life. He doted especially on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Edith Pinsky.

Joe is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marion (Benjamin) Rosen; sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. David and Kim Rosen, Wichita, and Dr. Larry and Roberta Rosen, Leawood; brothers and sister-in-law, Edward Rosen, Kansas City, Mo., and Leonard and Nedra Rosen, Lenexa; grandchildren and spouses, Marc and Melissa Rosen, Lori and Mike Zeinfeld, Benjamin and Lisa Rosen, Dr. John and Kristin Rosen, and Elizabeth and Isaac Chopp; and great-grandchildren, Sam and Claire Rosen, Nathan and Alex Rosen, Madeline and Abigail Zeinfeld and Gabriel Diaz.
