Philip Pell, 39, passed away Thursday Jan. 6, at his home in Eudora, Kan.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 9, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, with burial following at B’nai Israel Cemetery in Eudora. The family suggests contributions to Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund, c/o New Reform Temple, 7100 Main, Kansas City, MO 64114.

Philip was born on Dec. 13, 1971, in Lawrence, Kan., to Richard A. and Elizabeth Lynne Potter Pell. He graduated from Baldwin City High School in 1990 and was an Eagle Scout from BSA Troop #65. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in biology and environmental science. Philip spent his career in information technology, a field that he loved; most recently as the Chief Information Security Officer for Butler Community College.

Philip married Marcie Dalquest in 1998 in Lawrence, and they welcomed their son, Nathan, into their family six years later.

Philip was preceded in death by his father, Richard A. Pell, and grandparents, Elizabeth Pell and William and Olive Potter. Survivors include his wife, Marcie, and son, Nathan, of the home; mother, Elizabeth “Lynne” Pell, and her companion, Jay VanVelzen, Baldwin City, Kan.; brother and sister-in-law, Hunter and Teresa Pell, of Irving, Texas; grandfather, Luke Pell, of DeSoto, Kan; in-laws, Donald and Jo Ann Dalquest, of Lawrence, and Erica Spurling of Eudora; nephews, JT, Logan, Alex, Adam and Shawn; niece, Emily; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Phil also had a very supportive Facebook following.
