Sylvia Margolis Vincent, 91, of Overland Park, Kan., died peacefully on Friday, Jan. 7, at Delmar Gardens of Overland Park.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 9, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, with burial at Sheffield Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Odyssey Hospice Foundation.

Mrs. Vincent was born in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Alexander and Mary (Birenboim) Margolis and was a lifelong area resident.
She attended Kansas City schools and worked as a secretary in local businesses and, later, in the medical offices of Dr. Jack C. Vincent, her husband of 36 years.

Mrs. Vincent was a current member of Congregation Kol Ami, and a former member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers, Bernard A. and Jack Margolis; and a sister, Bertha Cortez.

Mrs. Vincent is survived by her son, Lawrence M. Vincent, and his wife, Sharon Tyers, Manchester, Mass.; her daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Robert Sokol, Overland Park; a sister, Jeanette Soble, Overland Park; grandchildren, Jordan Beth Vincent and her husband, Paul Xerri, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Caitlin C. Vincent, Baltimore; and a great-granddaughter: Alice Catherine Xerri.

Mrs. Vincent’s focus was her family and community. She was selflessly dedicated and devoted to her family. She loved to paint and play the piano.
Sylvia will be long remembered for her laugh and great sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew her.
