Heller, John M

John was born Nov. 21, 1946, the second of two children, along with his sister Joanie, of Dr. B. Marcus and Pauline Heller.

John attended Sunday school at The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah, graduated from Southwest High School in 1965, and attended Kansas University. His parents died in 1966 in the crash of a single-engine plane Dr. Heller was piloting on the way to Acapulco. John had a difficult life with medical challenges throughout, yet never complained. He cheated death many times. John died of complications related to cancer, in Los Angeles, where he had resided in recent years. A contributing photographer to Getty Images, his photos of celebrities and sports figures regularly appeared in national publications. He was well known to many in his age group throughout south Kansas City and regularly kept up with his friends to whom he was devoted. He leaves no known survivors.
