Howard Bormaster 91, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away June 17, 2017. Graveside service and interment took place June 20, 2017, at Mount Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to KC Pet Project or The Kansas City Hospice House.

Howard was born Aug. 2, 1925, the son of Joseph and Rae Bormaster. In 1942, he graduated from Paseo High School and joined the U.S. Navy serving on the USS OAHU. He married Gilda Krashin, the love of his life, in 1949. They enjoyed 56 wonderful years of marriage raising three daughters, who were otherwise known as “Howard’s Harem.”

Howard was the ultimate salesman and never met a stranger. He retired from a successful career at General Standard Wholesale Liquor. He loved to travel, play poker, watch sports and listen to music. 

Howard was preceded in death by his parents and wife Gilda. He is survived by his daughters, Cathy Sleeper, Karen Bormaster and Tom, Sandy and Jimmy Shugrue; and grandchildren, Erin Sleeper and Jack Hughes, Molly and Ross Shugrue and Sydney Shugrue. He is also survived by his brother, Martin Bormaster, and two nieces.
