Ida Harlow Greenstein, 99, died March 28, 2017, at Menorah Medical Center. Services were held March 31 in the Yukon Chapel at Mount Carmel Cemetery; burial followed. Kindly omit flowers. The family requests contributions to Village Shalom or the charity of one’s choice.
Ida was born Dec. 27, 1917, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Yale and Rose Harlow. She moved to Chicago at the age of two and was raised by her loving Aunt Mary and Solomon Robsky.
As a young adult, Ida moved to Kansas City. On March 31, 1940, she was set up on a blind date with Sam Greenstein. Ida and Sam later married on June 22, 1941, and they shared 68 years of a wonderful marriage together. Ida was known far and wide for her famous chocolate chip cookies.
Ida was predeceased by her husband, Sam, in 2009 and her son, Steve Greenstein, in 2008.
Ida is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Marcia Schoenfeld Greenstein; daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Mike Fishman; sister, Frances Braslawsky; and nephew, Sandy Harlow. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
Ida lived at Village Shalom in her later years where she enjoyed a wonderful and full life. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Village Shalom who helped make her life shine during her time there.
