Bernard I. Penner, 85, of Kansas City, Missouri, died on Feb. 18, 2017. Graveside funeral services were held Feb. 19, 2017, at Sheffield Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers; the family suggests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
Bernard was born Dec. 12, 1931, to the late Joseph and Edith Penner in Kansas City, Missouri. He went to Frances Willard Elementary School and graduated from Paseo High School in June 1949. He served in the military as a staff sergeant, U.S. Air Force and received an honorable discharge in October 1954. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and government in 1958. He was a lifelong Kansas City area resident. Bernard was an administrator for the Kansas City, Missouri, Fire Department.
He is survived by his sister Marlene Molos, nephew Mark Molos (Diane Kelly), niece Shelly Kingsberg (Cary Kingsberg) as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. Caregiver’s included Carol Dale of Seniors Helping Seniors as well as Heartland Hospice Care.
