Norman S. Wolf, DVM, Ph.D., was born in Kansas City on July 22, 1927, and passed away in Seattle, Washington, on Jan. 24, 2017.
After his enlisted service from 1945 to 1947, he completed his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (valedictorian) degrees at Kansas State University and then became the laboratory animal veterinarian at Northwest University (Chicago) while he earned a Ph.D. in experimental pathology. He was an expert in radiation biology and made many advances in understanding cellular changes during aging. He held posts in Paris, France, Oak Ridge, and Houston, Texas before his final position at the University of Washington, from which he retired in 2011.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, he was a kind and generous man, beloved by his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife Sue (Seattle, Washington), his son Jeremy (Bellingham, Washington) and his sister Harriette Denebeim (Overland Park, Kansas).
