Harriett Silver, 82, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, Nov. 6. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of the late Israel and Mary Spack.

 

She spent her first 52 years in the Kansas City area where she worked as an elementary school secretary. She then moved with her husband to Memphis, Tennessee, where they lived for 15 years and later retired to Charlotte.

Mrs. Silver was a former member of Temple Beth El in Charlotte; Congregation Ohev Sholom in Prairie Village, and Temple Israel in Memphis and their Sisterhoods. She was a life member of B’nai B’rith Women and past president of Star of David B’nai B’rith Women. She also held numerous volunteer positions.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Marvin Silver (2009). She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Waxman and husband Dael of Charlotte, and Debbie Young of Overland Park; a brother, Barry Spack and wife Alice of Scottsdale, Arizona, and three grandchildren: Meara Waxman, Rachel Bronston and Jeremy Young.

Graveside services were set to take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery in Independence, Missouri. The family suggests contributions to Charlotte Neuroscience Foundation, 300 Billingsley Road, Suite 108, Charlotte, NC 28211; or Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 1420 East Seventh St., Charlotte, NC 28204.
