Beverly Rose Brick

Beverly Rose Brick passed away Sept. 13, 2016, at Menorah Medical Center.  Beverly was born on Feb. 27, 1922, in St. Louis, Missouri to Morris and Fannie Shapiro.

Beverly grew up in Clayton, Missouri, and graduated from Clayton High School.  She resided in St. Louis and Kansas City for most of her adult life. While living in Kansas City, Bev was the executive assistant of the Kansas City chapter of the American Jewish Committee.

After living in Dallas, Texas, for three years in the mid 1970’s, she returned to Kansas City and was appointed as the director of the Jewish Studies program of the Jewish Community Center. Her last employment in KC was as a travel consultant for 20th Century Travel.

Bev was a terrific athlete and won many track awards while at Clayton High. She was an avid golfer and excelled at that sport as well. She was a member of Oakwood Country Club in Kansas City and won the Women’s Golf Championship. She was also an excellent bridge player and was awarded a Life Master Certificate many times.

Preceding Bev in death were her husband of 52 years George A. Brick, in 1994; her brothers, Melvin Shapiro, Ernie Shapiro, and Harvey Shapiro. 

Survivors include sister, Carol Keller; sons, Jeffrey and wife Stevi, Steven and wife Ann, and daughter Katherine. Also surviving are grandsons Matt, Jon, and David Brick and wife Andrea Mallory, and granddaughters Kate and Rachel Brick. She leaves two great grandchildren, Daniel and Zara Brick.

At the request of the family, private graveside services will be held.
