Lillian Greenberg

Lillian Greenberg, 93, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away Dec. 16, 2014, at Village Shalom. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m, Thursday, Dec. 18, at Louis Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Allan I. Greenberg Youth Lounge at Kehilath Israel Synagogue or to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.

Lillian was born Aug. 24, 1921, in Kansas City, Mo., and was a lifelong area resident. She attended Kansas City Schools graduating from Paseo High School. Out of high school, Lillian went to work for her brother-in-law, Dr. Jacob Rosen, as a laboratory technician. Her second career was as a sales associate at Macy’s/Dillard’s for over 30 years. She was an active lifelong member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue; a member of the Jewish War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary MO KAN 605 and also a life member of Hadassah and Na Amat. As a 10-year resident of Village Shalom, she participated in virtually all programs and religious activities.

Lillian was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was the center of the family and a true matriarch with a delightful sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by all her family, many friends and everyone who knew her.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 61 years, Allan Greenberg; brother, Phillip Sweet; and sister, Betty Rosen. She is survived by her daughters, Jackye Goldberg and husband Alan of Overland Park, Dvora “Jody” Krevat and husband Perry of Clifton, N.J., Esther Liba “Terry” Krause and husband Sam of Passaic, N.J.; her son, Jerry Tov Greenberg of New York, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren
