Cary Kalman Levine

Cary Kalman Levine died Nov. 17 in Jerusalem as the result of a terrorist attack in a synagogue. He was buried Nov. 18 in Jerusalem at Har Haminuchos.

 

Kalman was born in Kansas City on June 30, 1959. He was a member of the first graduating class at the Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy, then known simply as The Hebrew Academy. 

He attend the University of Southern California and moved to Israel about 35 years ago. Kalman was renowned as Talmudic scholar.

He is survived by his wife, nine children and five grandchildren; parents Joan and Bernie Levine of Kansas City; and sisters and brothers-in-law Stefanie and Michael Bresslauer of San Diego and Shelley Levine and Jonathan Bein of Boulder, Colo.

The family suggests contributions in his memory to Ner LeElef, 11 Beit HaD’fus St. (ground floor), Givat Shaul, Jerusalem, Israel.
