Judith Sosland Marder Goldstein Wasserman

Judith Sosland Marder Goldstein Wasserman, of Leawood, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, at the age of 74 with her daughters by her side.

{mprestriction ids="1"}Judy held a fierce love of life and a great devotion to her family. She was born in Kansas City, Mo., to the late Fannie Mae and Irving Marder. Judy was the loving mother to Sharon Goldstein and Shelley (David) Fishbach; adoring "Mamu" to Rebecca Fishbach; sister of Henry (Betty Jo) Marder and the late Sandra Marder; devoted wife of the late Richard Wasserman; and dear friend of Jack Forman. She was treasured by her many friends and extended family.

Judy was a lifelong volunteer who dedicated tremendous energy to Kansas City’s Jewish community. She was a committed volunteer leader at Congregation Beth Shalom, and served as president of the Kansas City Chapter of Hadassah and an officer of Hadassah’s Great Plains Regional board. She also was on the board of trustees and volunteered in classrooms for over 20 years at The Children’s Place, a day treatment center for abused and neglected children.

Judy will be remembered and cherished for her love, warmth, strength, humor, integrity and deeply held convictions.

The family wishes to thank Judy’s caregivers, Muncie Matthews, Yolanda Holley, Lisa Arthlee and Shirley Satchell for their dedication to Judy’s comfort and care.

A funeral service in memory of Judy will be held on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 10:30 a.m. at The Louis Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Judy’s memory to The Children’s Place, Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Kansas City, Kansas City Community Gardens or Congregation Beth Shalom.{/mprestriction}
