Sam Ginsberg, 102, passed away in Houston. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1911 to loving parents Ben and Helen.
Sam outlived his eight siblings, all of them very close.
Sam was a travelling salesman for ladies ready-to-wear and met the love of his life Edna in Kansas City where he made his life.
Sam is survived by his two children, Arnold and Brenda; son-in law, Barry; grandson, Alec and his wife and two daughters, his great-grandchildren. Sam has many nieces and nephews from around the United States. He also leaves his namesake at the Houston Mounted Patrol, Sam the horse, who recently retired from the Patrol. The Mounted Patrol has become a part of our family.
Sam was a World War II veteran as an airplane mechanic with many stories to tell if you asked him. We are thankful for his doctor at the VA Medical Center in Houston and his team. Sam earned the honorary title of Dr. Ginsberg as he worked so closely with Dr. C. at the VA Medical Center; it was as if two doctors collaborated on his health and well-being. A special thank you to Dr. C. for his love and care and he is an honorary Ginsberg. We could not have gotten Sam to 102 without him.
Graveside services were to have been held at Mount Carmel Cemetery on Wednesday, April 23. Donations may be sent to Congregation Temple Emanu El in Houston to the Cantor Discretionary Fund, The Houston Police Foundation or the Disabled Veterans. Sam was a loving father, husband, brother, grandfather and uncle to all. He will be remembered for his loving, sweet, patient personality; his rocking chair; and cigars and pipes he loved so much
