Idell L. Solsky, 87, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away Monday, March 3, 2014, at her home.

Graveside services were to be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery. Contributions are requested to St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation.

Idell was born in Brainard, Neb., the daughter of Louis and Sylvia (Jasa) Novak. After high school, she went to Nebraska Wesleyan College in Lincoln, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology in 1948. After graduation, she moved to Kansas City to work as a medical technologist in a private doctors’ office for 19 years.

In 1972, she left her medical position to work with her husband, Jim, in the family market at 39th and Paseo until they sold the business and retired in 1993.

Idell was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 44 years, Jim Solsky, in 2000; and her sister, Donna Kelemen.

She is survived by her nieces, Tammy Garcia and husband Steve and Cynthia Taugher, all of Denver. 

Idell enjoyed traveling with her family, took lessons in painting and enjoyed cooking for and supporting her loving family in all of their endeavors.

She will be greatly missed by those close to her.
